In 2020 the English Association invited colleagues in schools and universities to reflect on how the lockdown affected their practice in teaching, research, writing and publishing, and administration; this became vol. 14 of the Issues in English series, titled ‘”In the midst of things”: COVID-19 and English’. In 2022 we carried out a follow-up survey focusing on the impacts on higher education. In 2024 we carried out a follow-up survey, again focusing on the impacts on higher education.
