This is an excellent book that is great value for money. We travel the world finding out about over 90 celebrations and festivals. There are religious, cultural and historical dates including national holidays. We are given information in appropriate language and plenty of colourful, playful illustrations that engage readers and capture the mood of the festivals. The Carnival of Brazil almost jumps off the page, you can almost feel the costumes sway in The Festival of the Dancing Masks, and sense the excitement and energy of the Palio di Siena horse race. The celebrations and holidays are divided by seasons for easy reference. There is a rich range of festivals including The International Kite Festival, Walpurgis Night, Diwali, La Tomatina, Hanukkah, International Women’s Day, Désalpe , Hanami and St Patrick’s Day. Highly recommended as an information book, it is ideal for teaching children age 6+ about a range of cultures, religions and beliefs. It is also ideal for assemblies.
