This superb 64 page book is just what is required for KS2 and first year KS3 readers studying Climate Change, as part of a Geography or a Science curriculum. It would make a very good straight forward course book for the children, crammed full of information in 7 chapters. Each Chapter has fun but serious illustrations that help answer the question ‘What does Climate Change Really Mean? From Chapter 1 What is Climate Change? to Chapter 7 Taking Action, this book gives the children chapters on Causes of Climate Change; Climate Change Science; The Effects of Climate Change; Coping with Climate Change and Fighting Climate Change. Each chapter is developed by a series of sub headings that allow the reader to be directed to specific factual information with the very good Face the Facts section in each chapter highlighting specific information The excellent, appropriate age group information provides answers for the reader on What causes Climate Change?, What are the effects of Climate Change? and What can we do to fight Climate Change?
The Quiz on pages 60 and 61 helps summarise details that have been covered previously. The Glossary and the ‘Find Out More’ on pages 62 and 63 are excellent for improving the children’s vocabulary and understanding and directing them to other books and websites, where more can be learnt about this Hot topic. The Index is full and accurate making it easy for children to find specific information. It is important to prepare children for the future and this book helps educate them about Climate Change. I recommend it for schools, libraries and homes.
