The cheerful cover sets the tone for this “gripping, tipping, nipping interactive book. The colours are bright, the lettering clear and the artwork is appealing. Inside we are introduced to Crab, and are invited to wave our “arms in the air like claws to say hello”. On the next page we explore the ocean floor and are invited to “Shake the book from left to right to help Crab set off in a sideways scuttle.” This interactive approach continues throughout. It reinforces the learning and makes the book great fun to share. I enjoyed the humour of the text and the facial expressions, especially that of the Octopus and Crab’s expression as he loosens his shell. The pull-out coral and different layers of the seabed are charming and playful. Highly inventive, original, and perfect for sharing, this is an excellent introduction to crabs for young children..
