A sweet story designed in true Barrington Stoke style for newly independent readers, with short chapters, clear presentation, plenty of illustrations and uncomplicated sentences. The book is just the right size for little hands to hold. Ruby and her family go to the seaside with Ruby’s new sausage dog pup and all goes well until little Coco becomes lost. After lots of tension, of course in the end they are reunited but we are given an interesting perspective as we see the separation from both the pup’s and the child’s viewpoints. This is a good example of how something fairly ordinary can be woven into an engaging story.
