Hubble bubble, this cat’s trouble… Who doesn’t love a bedtime story that rhymes? Midnight Magic by Michelle Harrison and illustrated by Elissa Elwick is a wonderful rhyming book with chapters. It bridges the read aloud rhyming stories available for younger children with chapter books enjoyed by first readers. Midnight the Magic kitten is the star of the show – abandoned by her family for using magic, she is adopted by Trixie who loves the mischievous kitten and whose family are equally as accepting – they all end up flying around with Midnight on Twiggy the broom. Well executed stanzas never fail to rhyme and the pages are enhanced by beautiful illustrations. Whether you’re a fan of cats or not, this book will not fail to please.
