An entertaining picture book about a little girl who gets angry and REALLY wants to shout. The illustrations are excellent at conveying the girl’s exasperation and feelings. The author provides ways in which she can manage her anger. The story is humorous and entertaining, and the rhymes mean it reads well aloud. The girl is an appealing character with whom we can identify. Anger management is an important issue for children of any age, and the book provides plenty of opportunities for discussion and sharing. Eventually the child reaches an equilibrium.
“It’s thanks to Dad I’ve found a blend
(a blend on which I now depend)
Of clever ways to help me mend
My mood, when I could shout.”
The end of the story is fun, when Mum and Dad want to shout, and I love the last page where the reader can colour in and befriend their own monster. Highly recommended.
