Helen Lees is an English teacher who is committed to championing young people. She has worked various roles in secondary education, from lunchtime supervisor to senior leader. Her main focus in the classroom is to help students find their own voices, enabling them to communicate clearly and effectively.

Reflections

The first of four podcasts exploring how English subject specialists can be champions of change in their providers, the world, with one individual student…and everywhere in between. Hosted by Dr Becky Fisher and Kayte Haselgrove, we experiment using a Thinking Environment (Kline, 2018) approach to exploring thoughts around our practice. We speak to Helen Lees (Secondary English teacher) and Hollie Barnes (FE English teacher) in thinking rounds (Mycroft and Sidebottom, 2017) regarding their values as teachers and what they believe their specialisms look like as a practice of opening the door to a variety of contexts.
